"Small Handbook" for teaching the Greek language for educators of the Diaspora in the USA

The full proceedings will be released in 2025

A «Small Handbook» for teaching the Greek language for educators of the Diaspora is the first fruit of the International Summer University’s «Greek Language, Culture and Media» in Boston, which had as a subject the dissemination and teaching of the Greek Language in diaspora. It is a digital volume which consists of some good teaching practices based on the presentations that were developed during the programme’s activity. The digital material which has already been delivered for distribution to the Maliotis Cultural Centre at Hellenic Holly Cross, was edited by the Professor of Linguistics and Greek language of the University of Ioannina and scientific coordinator of the International Summer University, Mrs. Nikoletta Tsitsanoudi Mallidi and the PhD candidate in Linguistics of the same University, Mrs. Marina Papadopoulou. It is a product of the Laboratory for the Study of Social Issues, Media and Education of the Department of Early Childhood Education of the Faculty of Education in the University of Ioannina and of the Center for the Study for the Hellenic Language and Culture of the DI.K.E.P.P.E.E. “Stavros Niarchos” of the University of Ioannina.

The «Small Handbook» is the precursor to the full proceedings of the International Summer University, and its preparation has already begun. The volume of the proceedings will be published in the spring of 2025, edited by Mrs. N. Tsitsanoudis Mallidis and Mr. Nikos Mathioudakis, postdoctoral researcher in Linguistics at the Democritus University of Thrace. An official presentation is planned to be held in Athens and Boston.

It is reminded that the 10thο It is important to remind that the 10th International Summer University was organized by the Laboratory for the Study of Social Issues, Media and Education of the University of Ioannina, the Maliotis Cultural Centre at Hellenic College Holy Cross of Boston and the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) of America with the participation of the Department of Hellenic Education of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America of Boston, the University Philhellenes, the Center for Hellenic Studies of the University of Chicago, the Instituto de Letras of Rio De Janeiro University, Study in Greece and the National Gallery - Alexandros Soutsos Museum. The event took place from May 28 to June 2, 2024, at the Cultural Events Hall of the Maliotis Cultural Center and was held under the auspices and support of the General Secretariat for Hellenism Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs..
