Participation of the Center for the Study of the Hellenic Language and Culture of the DI.KE.P.P.E.E. “Stavros Niarchos” of the University of Ioannina in the proceedings of the 6th “Junior Summer University” on the theme “Languages and Artificial Intelligence,” in Gjirokastër

The Center for the Study of the Hellenic Language and Culture (KED.E.G.PO.) of the DI.KE.P.P.E.E. “Stavros Niarchos” of the University of Ioannina participated in the proceedings of the 6th “Junior Summer University” with the theme "Languages and Artificial Intelligence"The event was organized by the Online Alumni Association of the International Summer University “Greek Language, Culture and Media”under the scientific supervision of Professor Mrs. Nikoletta Tsitsanoudi–Mallidi, Dean of the School of Education at the University of Ioannina, in collaboration with Eqrem Çabej University and the Department of Modern Greek Language, Literature and Greek Culture in Gjirokastër (August 25–28).

At the opening of the sessions, the Rector of the University of Ioannina, Mrs. Anna Batistatou, delivered a greeting address.

HeLaS was represented by the tutors Anastasia Giannikou, Anna Douvalli, and Athina Vourvou. The team presented a paper entitled “Artificial Intelligence as a Tool for Correcting Written Production in Greek as a Second/Foreign Language: Possibilities and Limitations.”.

In addition to the theoretical framework, a project was also presented, carried out within the framework of HeLaS summer programs. The project focused on the correction of written production texts by students at the B2 level of Greek language proficiency.

HeLaS participation in the “Junior Summer University” highlighted the fruitful dialogue between language teaching and innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence, opening new perspectives for the teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language.
